On Monday, May 8, 2017, the construction of the new Amethyst Radiotherapy Center in Austria has begun.

The first privately owned radiotherapy center in Austria is being erected  in its capital, in the vicinity of the Wiener Privatklinik at Pelikangasse 15. The project will include a modern building with two modern, high-performance linear accelerators for irradiation. According to the estimations the  treatment of the first patients will be possible in the end of 2017.

- Radiotherapy is one of the most important method in cancer treatment. Unfortunately, so far in Austria, and especially in the capital region, there was a big problem with access to it. The main reason was the lack of specialized equipment, patients had to wait long for the radiation treatment - says Dr. Paul Stuchetz, President of Amethyst Österreich belonging to the medical group Amethyst Radiotherapy. With the launch of new linear accelerators by Amethyst, the treatment options for cancer patients will significantly increase.

The cost of investing in Vienna is close to 10 million euros.

Amethyst Radiotherapy centers already operate in France, Romania and Poland. In 2017 another Amethyst Radiotherapy Center will be launched in Zgorzelec.
